A few randomly picked ink pen drawings from the past couple weeks.... the 75 day challenge is nearing the end!

Here are a few of my drawings from the past couple weeks or so....
A favorite bakery,  I bought a chocolate cake that day.

We have a beautiful carousel at a nearby park, but difficult to draw while there.  I drew this from a picture.

A drawing of a still life set up in my studio.

A laundry room

My ironing board.   It occurred to me while drawing this, that  ironing boards have had the very same design for as long as I can remember.

75 Day Sketch Challenge....How many days has it been? ...46!

It's been a while since I posted any of my drawings, but I have been drawing each day.  It is time consuming to take pictures, edit them and post... so here are a few from the past week or so.  Above is a cup and note card that I wound up doing a similar painting of.   Below is a corner of my computer desk, which always seems to have a mixed collection of items crowding it.  Time to tidy up.

These 2 are of Charlotte Beach Park, where I sat and sketched for a little while.

This is a vase of sunflowers I bought at the grocery store, and a random doodle that I have many of scattered through my sketchbooks.

ink pens and drawing

It was my birthday yesterday, and this is what I wanted,.. a new set of rapidograph pens!! I used to have a set many many years ago.. and always wanted to have them back.  Little fine line markers are just not the same :-)     It was so hot today, I couldn't believe it! Over 90! That is very unusual for here in Rochester.
I stopped to draw my little supper,  didn't feel like eating much on such a hot day... didn't feel like doing much of anything!
Toast, and hard boiled egg...( I already ate the other half of the egg)

Day 21 of 75....

Here are just a couple of drawings I've done in the past few days.  The rose was drawn from a picture I took earlier in June, and the hydrangeas I drew while sitting in my backyard at the table. I haven't drawn anything for today... so as soon as I finish this post, that's what I'll be doing!  Thanks for stopping by for a look :)

75 Day...(ink) sketch a day continued....

utensils from my kitchen drawer

drove down to the Port of Rochester to draw.  I ran out of room on my page, but drew enough to realize I need practice drawing buildings!  .. and cars.

Can't remember ever drawing a motorcycle... need practice doing this too!
I'm at day 13 now, not all my sketches have been posted, but doing a drawing or 2 every day.  Only 62 days to go!!  :-)

More Ink drawings....

Rain, rain, rain... what a gloomy day, but one way to brighten my mood is to buy something new to draw or paint.   Here are days 9 and 10 of my ink sketches, a couple of little "succulent" plants, and a couple of figs.  Both are firsts for me to draw, and doing it in ink was good change for my brain.

Pen and Paper, A drawing a day....

day 1, Newspapers on the table
I have been following artist Brenda Swenson's watercolor blog for a while now,  I love her watercolors, and drawings, and travel journal sketches...  and recently she posted a drawing challenge, to make a pen drawing every day for 75 days.  I decided I'd like to join in, because I've always loved drawing with pens, but just don't do it enough anymore.  It'll be fun to see what kinds of things I will find to draw in the next 75 days...  I may not post every drawing, but, for sure, I will be drawing.  In 75 days it will be September! How fast the summer goes by... and I will be happy to have a sketch book full of memories at the end.  :)

day 2, Back yard chair and rosebush

So Many Flowers...

It seems as if all the flowers bloom at once, and no time to spend on them.  I did a quick sketch of a couple roses before I went to work today.  It would be so pretty as a painting, I hope I get some time this weekend... but then, the flowers will have faded.

Prismacolor pencils on Stonehenge paper

I like doodling on different papers with all the different pencils I have to see how they feel.  I started making swirls and things on this stonehenge paper I have that is a 5x7 size.  The swirl designs were fun to do, and the pencils marked smoothly, and could be soft or very dark.  Then I started making a little face, and that was alot of fun to do... using all different colors to lightly shade it in.  The only thing I couldn't do was add a white highlight in the eye.  I'll have to plan out a nice drawing to do sometime on this paper... it comes in soft shades of gray, warm white, cream.. etc.  100% cotton...  my pastel pencils work nicely on it too.
I love it!

Spring Flowers

It was a beautiful day today! So sunny and warm with a lovely breeze... the first day that it's been so nice this Spring.   I picked these flowers, and sat outside and drew them.    A pinkish red tulip, and some lily of the valley.   I did the colored one with prismacolor colored pencils.  I forgot how much I like those pencils!

Felt like doodling with colored pencils today....

I love the feel of colored pencils on the moleskine paper, they glide smoothly and color lightly or dark.  I didn't have a plan before I started drawing, and looking back at it now, I think I like it better at the middle picture stage,  but it was fun to do.

pastel pomegranate

close up
I bought a small set of Sennelier pastels and some new CarbOthello pastel pencils to try, and I love them both!  The pencils color nicely on this Canson pastel paper.  Nice and smooth...no gritty, scratchy feel like I sometimes get with the Conte pastel pencils.  And the Sennelier are super colorful, a little goes a long way. I love how you can lightly layer the color, and 'see through' it.
I just played around making little sketches on the paper of this pomegranate.   The pastel erases well too, I never knew that.   I cut a small peice of a hard eraser with a kraft knife and used it's nice edge to erase with.
